One subscription, many models: when a bundled AI surface pays off

One subscription, many models: when a bundled AI surface pays off

If you use AI seriously at work, you rarely end up with one subscription. You end up with four. One for text, one for images, one for code, one for video. Each looks cheap on its own. Together they are a monthly ad budget.

What a bundled surface solves

There is another route: one surface with several models behind it. Abacus.AI ChatLLM Teams is one of those. A single subscription gives you the large models, and in the same place you can build apps, slides, video and bots.

By their own account it is over a hundred models, ten dollars a month, seven for the first month. Those figures come from their page, not from me.

Who it suits

It suits you if you:

  • want to compare several models on the same task without paying in three places
  • do many different things infrequently: text one day, a quick prototype the next
  • work in a team and want the access in one place

Who it does not suit

Do not start here if you:

  • run a single model eight hours a day. The vendor's own subscription goes deeper, and new features land there first
  • are building a product on the API. That is a different product with different pricing
  • cannot let your data leave the EU. Check that before you subscribe, not after

What I do with it

Choosing a model is not a matter of taste for me. Producing thirty ad variants favours a different model than thinking through a measurement logic. That is why a surface I can switch inside is worth more to me than one I have to stay in.

Cards on the table. The link above is an affiliate link. If you subscribe through it I earn a commission, and it costs you the same. I wrote this because the question comes up in my work anyway, and I link it because I can say who it suits and who it does not.
